Aussies and Filipinos Plant a Church Together

Last April, 2009 six Australians joined the SOS team in Baranggay Holy Spirit, Quezon City.

A Church Planting Laboratory is a District sponsored on-the-job training program in Church Planting, using the S.O.S. (Summer Of Service) mobilization campaign. It's a 4-week training: a week of customized seminar-type training, and a 3-week field work as the OJT purposed to plant churches in the district targets.This video showcases the features of the week-long training. Clips are taken from the STDC CPL 2009 held in Bacoor, Cavite. The venue was the International School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, generously offered to be used by its owners, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Gramaje.

A Local Church Planting Team Does It!

Participating church planting teams from local churches apply what they learned in the summer church planting laboratory by planting another church in their local target place. This is the movie of the work of the CPT members from the GenSan City Church that joined the SOS teams that went to Bagumbayan, Malita and Sta. Maria. After participating in church planting in those three SMDC district targets,they joined forcess and planted another church in Rodriguez. It can be done!

SOS Team Plants Church in Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat

Summer of 2008, SMDC hosted a Church Planting Laboratory. Attended by a hundred vounteers from different churches, three SOS teams were formed and sent to three target places, one of which is Bagumbayan,Sultan Kudarat This is the movie of their church planting work. After a week of training and three weeks of fieldwork, a new church was born.

STDC SOS TRAINING

The SOS training for STDC district was participated by a total of 85 volunteers 20 of which came from Panay and Romblon. Several FARM young people including members of the FARM music team were part of the group. The 10 BBC church planting students were also part of the team, and some young people from the Kings Garden Home, a ministry by Missionary Monica Jarvis.

Training OIC was Mrs. Zenaida Calusay, SOS Program OIC. She was assisted by no less than the Distcrit Superintendent and Asst. District Superintendent of the NWVDC; namely Pastor Jessie Villagracia and Pastor Dionel Flores. Berean alumni who are pastoring in STDC district areas came to help in the training. WVDC and NWVDC Send Volunteers to 8 Other Districts

Since 2006, churches from the WVDC and NWVDC have been sending SOS volunteers to help in the church planting projects of other districts. This summer, 152 young people and adults from 56 churches in Capiz, Iloilo, Aklan, Antique and Romblon will travel by boat, plane and land to join the other districts that are conducting church planting laboratories; namely, BRDC, CVLL, NELDC, NEMDC, NIDC, NLDC, NODC and STDC. Amongst them are pastors and lay leaders who will serve as trainers, field directors, team officers and squad leaders. Please remember to include them in your prayers. 2009 PAGHANAS & TARGET PLACES

Paghanas (Ilonggo term for `training) for SOS 2009 was held last March 3-5, 2009 in Roxas City, Capiz. Coming from 12 districts, 76 participants came - District Leaders, SOS Facilitators, and pastors that will serve as trainers and field directors. Unlike the past years, most of the participants this year have already gained functional knowledge of the SOS church planting strategy. This allowed more time to focus the sessions on conservation, monitoring and assisting the growth of the new church plants. The GS Rev. Rey Calusay preached a series on `Motivation’. Testimonies, contributions during the brainstorming sessions evidenced the growing passion for church planting among the district leaders and pastors that were present. Rev. Dave Johnsons was present as part of the Bicol team. His presence and the SOS materials printed by ICI were visible proofs of the partnership and support of our American missionaries to church planting in the Philippines.
The event culminated in the finalization of target places and organization of training teams for the 2009 SOS Church Planting Laboratories (See list below)

FIRST CHURCH PLANTERS TRAINING MODULE

A very important preparation for the SOS 2009 Church Planting Laboratory is the training of the church planters. Twenty four church planters from nine districts completed the week-long training , starting February 23, 2009 to March 1, 2004. Facilitated by the Home Missions Department under our General Superintendent, Rev. Rey Calusay, the training was held in Berean School of Ministry for Church Planters in Roxas City. The church planting materials printed by ICI came just in time to be used in the training. Rev. Jessie Villagracia, the District Superintendent of the host district (NWVDC) was present during the night of their graduation to consecrate the church planters to the Lord and to the task of planting churches.
The twenty four church planters went to a target area in Roxas City in the afternoon of a Saturday. They hit the road and knocked on doors. As a result, they were able to get 33 openings for Bible study. The said contacts were turned over to First Assembly Roxas City Bible study leaders.
